RCM Exam Preparation

For students interested in pursuing Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) examinations, we offer personalized training to help you prepare for all aspects of the exam. This includes repertoire, technical skills, sight reading, ear training, and theory support.

Whether you’re working towards your first certificate or advancing to higher levels, our program is tailored to meet the RCM’s requirements while nurturing your individual musical growth.

We offer RCM exam preparation from Preparatory Level to ARCT in Performance.

Performance Preparation

In our Performance Preparation sessions, we focus on building your confidence and technical skill through repertoire practice. Whether you're preparing for a level exam or working toward a diploma, we'll guide you through the pieces you need to perform, focusing on interpretation, expression, and musicality. Each piece is treated not only as a technical challenge but also as an opportunity to develop your artistic voice.

Technical Skills

RCM exams require proficiency in technical skills such as scales, arpeggios, and other technical exercises. During lessons, we ensure you develop strong foundational techniques that will make your performances smooth and confident. We provide focused exercises for improving your finger strength, hand coordination, and overall musical fluency, which are critical to achieving high exam marks.

Sight Reading

Sight reading can be one of the most challenging parts of the RCM exam. In our lessons, we provide targeted exercises and practice strategies to improve your ability to read and perform music on the spot. You'll work on increasing your reading speed and accuracy while also developing your ability to identify patterns, rhythms, and harmonic structures quickly.

Ear Training

Ear training is essential for both the written and aural components of the RCM exams. We help you develop your listening skills through a variety of exercises aimed at improving your ability to identify intervals, chords, rhythms, and melodic patterns. This skill not only enhances your exam performance but also improves your overall musicality and ability to play by ear.

Theory Preparation

Theory is an integral part of many RCM exams, particularly in the higher levels. Our theory preparation lessons will cover everything from basic music theory to advanced concepts such as harmony, counterpoint, and form. We offer a structured approach to mastering music theory, ensuring you are well-prepared for any written theory component on your exam.

Performance & Exam Strategy Coaching

In addition to technical and musical preparation, this program includes targeted coaching for confident, polished performances in both exams and on stage. Key areas include:

  • Tailored exam strategies for managing time, addressing challenges, and presenting professionally.

  • Stage performance preparation through simulated performances to develop confidence and presence.

  • Performance anxiety techniques using focus, breath control, and visualization exercises.

  • Stage and exam etiquette, covering entrance, exit, posture, and professional interaction.

A comprehensive approach designed to support musical, mental, and professional readiness for every performance setting.

Mock Tests

To ensure students feel confident and fully prepared for their RCM examinations, we offer mock exam sessions. These simulated exams closely follow the official exam format, covering performance, technique, sight reading, ear training, and theory (if applicable).

Mock exams provide a valuable opportunity to experience the exam process in a supportive, low-pressure environment. Students receive constructive feedback on their strengths and areas for improvement, helping them enter their official exam with clarity and confidence.

Mock exams are available for all levels, from Preparatory to ARCT.
